12 Questions I Had to Answer
Hey there friend! We are in the middle of Memorial Day weekend 2019 and I thought I would do something fun for this week’s blog post. I really try to share a little bit of my life on here and on Instagram, but that’s typically just a snapshot.
To help you better understand my experiences and what I bring to the table as a potential coach, I thought it would be fun to do a get to know me post. These questions are a little all-over-the-place, but I thought to myself, “it’s a holiday weekend, why not!”
What’s the first thing you notice about a person? Their attitude. I put a lot of stock in first impressions. It doesn’t take a lot of effort to be kind to someone you’re meeting for the first time, so that’s something I think you should always lead with.
What’s your zodiac sign? Do you believe in it? I am a VIRGO and I 100% believe in it. So much so that I purposely don’t read my horoscope because I dwell on it too much. I also find a lot of enjoyment (super weird) out of reading the “You know you’re a virgo when …” posts on Pinterest because I find them to be super accurate for myself.
What are your hobbies? While a little more than a hobby, writing and creating content for this blog, as well as designing items for my etsy shop gives me a lot of enjoyment and fulfillment. Other than that I love to dance, go shopping, travel and just spend time at home with family.
What do you want to be when you grow up? I love this question. My idea of what I want to be has shifted so much in the past two years or so and I’m really just enjoying the season I’m in of not having to have a full plan. I love hearing about others’ journeys, especially those individuals who’ve pivoted to new experiences or have really niched down in their beloved area.
Who are some of your favorite YouTubers? I went through a really strong YouTube phase when I was in graduate school. Alexandrea Garza’s channel is really fun and inspirational. Her and her husband also have a vlog channel that is really entertaining. Kat Schmoyer with Creative at Heart has some good business videos that I like to watch. I’m also a big fan of James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke videos, especially the Adele and Jonas Brothers ones.
Favorite memory from childhood? I love my childhood and am very nostalgic about it, so there’s rarely a memory that isn’t a favorite. My parents did a really great job providing opportunities for my sister and I to establish our own personalities and hobbies, while also keeping us really close as a family. My favorite memories are those that were just spent together as a family that weren’t anything major - working on school projects with my dad, my mom talking with me while I got ready for a school dance, my sister and I talking about drama on the school bus … just the little things.
What three things that make you happy? 1. My family 2. Feeling fulfilled in my work 3. Seeing new things.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Paris or Boston, but only if I could snap my fingers and be transported back to see family and friends!
What inspires you? People doing awesome things and my family really inspire me. I love hearing stories of people defying the odds, working hard and doing great things for the world. That’s what inspires me to do this work and work in education. Also, EVERYTHING I am is because of my family, so they most certainly inspire me.
What are you favorite TV shows or movies? If you follow me on Instagram, you know I LOVE Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon. (I’m still mourning the end of TBBT.) I also really love nostalgic early 2000s sitcoms, like Boy Meets World, Reba, Smart Guy, the Nanny … etc. As far as movies, Titanic is my all time favorite.
How many countries have you been to? I have been to six countries: Canada, England, Ireland, France, Monaco and Italy. My husband and I would love to do a trip to Wales and Scotland to learn more about our ancestry though; maybe in a few years!
What are your favorite books you’ve read? To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee will forever be a favorite. You can’t go wrong with a Harry Potter book and I also really love Grace, Not Perfection by Emily Ley. It is probably one of the most transformative books I’ve read and one I keep going back to!
That was super fun, and I hope you feel like you know the face behind Lettered in the Sky, just a little better! If you have any questions, please don’t ever hesitate to ask! Also, be sure to share in the comments your favorite childhood memory or what keeps you inspired!
