Word of 2019: GRACE
Happy New Year! What a year 2018 was - my husband and I bought a home, I started this blog and began selling my woodburning and calligraphy items on Etsy! With all of these new projects and exciting moments, I’ve decided that 2019 is going to be the year where I extend myself some grace.
Grace is my word of the year and what I have chosen to try to embody and celebrate in 2019! Instead of creating resolutions or setting goals (I know, I love setting goals, but I’m extending grace there too), I want to make a lasting change in how I act, feel, and relate to others.
Merriam-Webster defines grace as a disposition to or instance of kindness, courtesy, or clemency, but I’m defining it as the freedom to live my life on my own terms without internal judgment or insecurity. Oftentimes I feel that it is my own criticism that impacts how I feel, so by extending grace, I’m choosing to stop the critique and start being a little kinder to myself.
While staying motivated is important and necessary when to-do lists are a mile long, it’s as equally important to choose being present and celebrating the moment. So, this year I’m choosing just that - to live a life filled with grace.
